Not long ago in the vibrant city of Charleston, South Carolina, three passionate individuals were about to embark on a journey that would not only change their lives but also sweeten the lives of their community. Brothers Brent and Matt, along with Matt’s wife Melissa, had always shared a love for family, connection, and, most importantly, frozen custard. Brent had deep roots in Charleston, pouring his heart into coaching Citadel Football and nurturing relationships within the community. Meanwhile, Matt and Melissa were living in Jacksonville, Florida, where they discovered the joy of Whit’s Frozen Custard, a discovery that sparked a dream in their hearts.

During a heartfelt visit back to Charleston, Matt and Melissa felt a familiar longing—something was missing in their beloved city. They envisioned a warm, inviting place where families could gather to celebrate special moments over sweet treats. With Brent ready to embark on a new adventure, the trio decided to make that dream a reality. After countless brainstorming sessions filled with laughter and nostalgia, they secured a charming spot on Maybank Highway. As they set up their store, memories of childhood vacations filled their minds, inspiring them to create not just a Frozen Custard shop, but a community hub—a place for laughter after beach days, a gathering spot for friends, and a venue for life’s milestones. The grand opening of Whit’s Frozen Custard was met with joyful anticipation, quickly becoming a local favorite known for its fresh, homemade custard and inviting atmosphere. With each scoop served, they celebrated the joy of connection and built a beloved destination that solidified their place in the heart of Charleston, where sweet memories continue to be made.

David discovered Whit's while living in Asheville, NC. He immediately fell in love with their frozen custard and became a regular customer, going a couple of times a week. In 2017, David moved to Charlotte, NC with his family and noticed that there was not a Whit's Frozen Custard location near him.  After searching and planning, David finally found the perfect location.  David and his son opened Whit's Frozen Custard Fort Mill in March of 2019 and have been dishing out smiles ever since!

Whit's Frozen Custard Fort Mill serves up premium frozen custard made fresh daily. We are located just across from the entrance to Baxter Village. We are open 7 days a week offering 4 fresh flavors daily (Vanilla, Chocolate, Flavor of the Week and Flavor of the Day) that can be scooped in cups or cones. We also stock our most popular flavors in our Grab and Go Freezer in Pint and Quart containers. We also offer shakes, sundaes, banana splits and Whitsers (any of our array of toppings lightly blended with one of the freshly made flavors) as well as vegan and sugar-free options. Our most popular item is the Whittie. It's our custard sandwiched between two store-baked cookies. We typically have a dozen or more varieties available for purchase. We also have made-to-order custard cakes and are available to cater any size event.
