Sharing the Heart of Whit’s

When the owners of our Newnan Whit’s, Ken and Dianne Parker, opened an insurance agency many years ago in town, they not only wanted to be a part of a community, they also wanted to give back and contribute in some small way to making their community better. “Our steps have been small but have brought smiles to others and joy to us,” Dianne shared. As they discussed opening a Whit’s, they knew they wanted to continue the service they found important so many years ago.

Opening their Whit’s in June 2020, Dianne said, “Has  proven to be a wildly fun adventure - sometimes stressful, often crazy, but just really so much fun!”

As they got into the swing of making custard, they started sharing treats with community educators, the police department and fire fighters. When a relative asked about sharing scoops with the hospital staff, they embraced the challenge. Giving this monumental organization task to their daughter, Bella Grace, proved successful as they quickly organized to deliver 1,000 scoops to Piedmont Newnan Hospital, with the help of a great staff who can, Dianne shared, “Seriously scoop some custard!”

Emotions ran high on delivery day when every single employee from that hospital was given a Whit’s treat. “What really took hold of my heart,” explained Dianne, “was the fact that so many people have spent the past year tirelessly working to keep their community safe, and healthy, and cared for. Our physicians and nurses and countless others have given so much of themselves, sacrificed their own care and time with their families, to take care of the people in their communities.”

If you are a client at their insurance agency or a custard-loving Whit’s fan, “Please know,” Dianne added,  “that you are a wonderful part of all of the service we are able to do in our community. Because without you, it just would not be possible.”
